Can we take a moment to appreciate Gabrielle’s character arc?

Her evolution is utterly well done.

She goes from cute, inexperienced little girl/budding bard

image

to still cute slightly less inexperienced young woman/unwitting Amazon Princess/bard

image

to extremely cute Amazon Princess/Bard who can take better care of herself, with a lot more experience and wisdom

image

to spiritual pacifist

image

who will still defend her friends

image

and then we have this thing of beauty that happened

image

and then this happened

image

and by the time she’s a full warrior, dubbed the Battling Bard of Potidaeia

image

she’s an entirely different person, ready to do whatever it takes to serve the greater good and survive.

image

But the whole time she’s completely, utterly human.

Yes, the series is called Xena: Warrior Princess, but it’s about Gabrielle, too.
